The Pastoral Theme that will guide our prayer and action during the Academic Year 2023/24 is ‘Christ Lives in Me.’

"Christus Vivit" ‘Chris is alive!’ is an encyclical written in 2019 by Pope Francis that speaks directly to young people. It encourages them to embrace their faith, find hope in Christ, and actively participate in the world around them. In simple terms, it teaches young people that they are valuable and have a vital role to play in making the world a better place.

One of the key messages is that young people should not be afraid to dream big and make a difference. The Pope says, "Dear young people, do not bury your talents, the gifts that God has given you! Do not be afraid to dream of great things!" This quote reminds young people to believe in themselves and use their unique gifts and talents for the benefit of others.

Another important theme is the importance of listening to others and building connections. Pope Francis states, "If you listen to Jesus and follow his voice, you will be able to realize your talents in the best way." This encourages young people to be attentive to the needs of others, to listen with empathy, and to build relationships based on respect and understanding.

Finally, the encyclical emphasizes the importance of taking action and being actively engaged in society. Pope Francis reminds young people, "A better world can be built also as a result of your efforts, your desire to change, and your generosity." This quote encourages young people to be agents of positive change, to stand up for justice, and to let their light shine by making a positive impact in their communities and the world.

As we journey together throughout the academic year, we pray that we may become more aware of Christ who lives in us, and share His Light and Life with all we meet!

Each week we will be fed by the Gospel used at Sunday Mass. Our reflections will link to our Trust virtues and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. and how we might put into practice Jesus’ command to ‘live life to the full.’ (John 10:10)
